Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Dublin (office based)
Salary: Negotiable
Job Description: Mechanical Engineer / Full Time Permanent Salary based
Minimum Qualifications: Honours Degree – Chartered an advantage but not essential

  • Lead projects from concept stage to completion
  • Liaise with clients, architects and project managers
  • Specification and design of Mechanical Building Services systems for a range of projects
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
  • Position requires thorough knowledge of mechanical design and engineering techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Standards.
  • Experience in working as part of a team
  • Very good proactive communicator.

Key Activities

  • Lead the Mechanical Services design for a range of projects
  • Design and specification of mechanical services for various types of buildings and sectors
  • Production of detailed Schematics
  • Develop the mechanical design standards within the organisation
  • Mentoring of junior engineering staff
  • Provide fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation/quality on site until project completion

Sustainability Consultant – LEED AP / BREEAM AP / WELL AP

Job Description: Sustainability Consultant – LEED AP / BREEAM AP / WELL AP  / Full Time Permanent Salary based
Sector: Data Centres, Industrial, High Tech, Commercial and Healthcare
Essential Experience: 3 years

Person Specification 

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a sustainability/ energy consultant or related position
  • Solid degree in Architecture /Engineering/ Environmental/ Sustainability or related subject
  • Working toward or reached Chartership – Engineer/ Scientist or Environmentalist or member of RIAI / RIBA
  • Qualifications in the following; but not limited to: LEED AP BD&C / ID+C, BREEAM AP + WELL AP Desirable, Home Performance Index (HPI)
  • Experience with environmental lifecycle assessments and whole life costing desirable
  • Knowledge of Irish planning legislation

Duties 

  • Management of projects
  • Develop and manage client relationships (Internally and Externally)
  • Present evidence of completing the assessment process
  • Understand and apply the current and proposed Irish sustainability related legislation to project solutions (Building regulations, Local Planning Policy)
  • Undertake LEED BD+C & ID+C Assessments across commercial schemes
  • Undertake BREEAM International Assessments across commercial schemes
  • Advise clients on all areas of sustainable design and provide solutions
  • Manage sustainability contributions from varying design stakeholders
  • Prepare thorough, high quality, technical reports which in a clear concise manner, communicate any issues and conclusions

Digital Buildings Engineer (Intelligent Buildings)

Job Description: Digital Buildings Engineer / Full Time Permanent Salary based

We are seeking a Digital Buildings Engineer to join or Digital Services team in our Dublin office. As Ethos Engineering enter this very exciting and emerging design service within the built environment, we are looking for the right candidate who has been involved in a diverse and challenging range of Intelligent (Smart) Building projects, specifically within Commercial Real Estate but also including projects across other sectors. As an integral member of our Digital Services team, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects while also helping to grow the business.

Person Specification:

  • Position requires thorough knowledge of Smart Building design and engineering techniques.
  • Degree in a relevant ICT/Controls design engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • Working towards achieving Chartered status (or equivalent professional registration).
  • 3+ years post-qualification experience (working with Smart Building technologies).
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (software and hardware).
  • Experience in a range of projects across multiple sectors.
  • Experience with smart building assessments and ROI reviews.
  • Experience with User Experience (UX) design process.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in working as part of a team.
  • Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.

Duties:

  • Take high-level initial project/ work briefs and converted into an in-depth project scope which meets the demands and outcomes of the client.
  • Liaise with clients, IT, manufacturers, and project teams.
  • Manage various digital contributions from multiple contractors / stakeholders.
  • Design of ICT infrastructure, Security, A/V and Smart Building systems.
  • Design/Specification of building operation systems (BOS).
  • Design/Specification of MEP building systems integrations.
  • Undertaking UX design processes to establish project outcomes.
  • Prepare thorough, high quality, technical specifications, and drawings.
  • Reviewing design work from team members for QAQC purposes.
