Mechanical Engineer

Location: Dublin (office based)
Salary: Negotiable
Job Description: Mechanical Engineer / Full Time Permanent Salary based
Minimum Qualifications: Honours Degree – Chartered an advantage but not essential
Sector: Data Centres, Industrial, High Tech, Commercial and Healthcare
Essential Experience: 6+ years

  • Lead projects from concept stage to completion
  • Liaise with clients, architects and project managers
  • Specification and design of Mechanical Building Services systems for a range of projects
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
  • Position requires thorough knowledge of mechanical design and engineering techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Standards.
  • Experience in working as part of a team
  • Very good proactive communicator.

Key Activities

  • Lead the Mechanical Services design for a range of projects
  • Design and specification of mechanical services for various types of buildings and sectors
  • Production of detailed Schematics
  • Develop the mechanical design standards within the organisation
  • Mentoring of junior engineering staff
  • Provide fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation/quality on site until project completion
  • Tender report / analysis / recommendations
  • Develop project scope with design team / client
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Autocad, REVIT an advantage
  • Produce budgets and reports for clients
  • The role will be primarily office based but will involve some site attendances

Sustainability Consultant – Building Services

Ethos Engineering is a market leader within consulting on the Built Environment and their established Dublin office is central to their operations and who are now expanding to new offices in Cork & Galway and also London. This established team contains talented, dedicated engineers and technicians who possess a passion for efficient, simple and sustainable solutions. A position has opened up in their modern, dynamic office for an experienced Sustainability Consultant. This team is very active in, commercial, healthcare, education, residential and industrial sectors so a broad project portfolio awaits the Sustainability Consultant who successfully manages to secure this position. This is a superb chance to develop your sustainability skills within the framework of an award-winning consultancy.  There is flexibility in the location of this position and can be based out of Dublin or out of our satellite offices in Cork, Galway or London depending on the successful applicants preference.

The Candidate

This role would suit an Engineer / Architect from either a Mechanical / Structural / Sustainability background. You must have some experience in Thermal Modelling using IES VE with a solid understanding of MEP services in addition to an understanding of current Building Regulations including Part L and Part F. You will have a good understanding of environmental rating systems such as BREEAM, LEED & WELL and be qualified or working towards a qualification in these areas.  Training will be provided where necessary. You will be a dynamic, outgoing individual, passionate about sustainability, hard working with a desire to develop your sustainability skills.  Ideally qualified as Domestic or Non Domestic BER Assessor.

Required skills

  • IES Thermal Modeller / Sustainability / Mechanical / IES VE Heat Loads Energy Calculations
  • Understanding and interpretation of AutoCad building layouts, elevations and sections
  • Working knowledge of Sketch-up, AutoCAD, DEAP, PHPP, MS Excel
  • Ideally registered as Domestic / Non Domestic BER Assessor
  • Knowledge / experience of natural ventilation studies, daylight assessments
  • Knowledge / experience of advanced energy modelling for LEED
  • Be competent undertaking a range of environmental assessments using third-party assessment methodologies such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL, HPI
  • Liaising with client stakeholders to develop the criteria for the delivery of the desired environmental assessment rating
  • Conducting LEED/BREEAM Pre-Assessment and providing design advice
  • Producing evidence requirements for LEED / BREEAM credits
  • Undertaking gap analysis report/schedule
  • Managing own workload to meet project deadlines
  • Producing reports and providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams
  • Attending site visits to review progress against sustainability targets
  • Arranging and attending meetings, taking minutes and distributing actions
  • Completing relevant training to become certified as an assessor against one of the core assessment methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working in a team environment
  • Good time management in order to meet project deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Masters in Sustainable Energy Engineering

Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Dublin (office based)

Essential Experience: 8 years as Senior Engineer

  • Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques
  • Deep knowledge of ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Standards
  • Experience in working as part of a team
  • Very good proactive communicator
