We have an excellent record in the design of sustainable concepts across all sectors of the building industry and utilise the latest building simulation software to assist in this regard. Ethos Engineering also have fully trained and accredited BREEAM, LEED and Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessors as well as experienced energy auditors.


Sustainable design is a core competence of Ethos Engineering. Our designs reflect the latest thinking in deep green engineering and strive to achieve near Zero Energy Building (nZEB) status while still maintaining the wellbeing of building occupants. Our approach is to provide early interventions to the design process helping to facilitate an integrative design. Our performance based approach results in the optimum levels of daylighting, heat gains and heat losses resulting in buildings which provide high levels of thermal comfort and air quality but with appropriate energy use.


At Ethos Engineering we utilise the most advanced software tools available to use to carry out building simulations and analysis. We utilise the latest technologies to develop Dynamic Thermal Simulations to determine design strategies to ensure buildings and systems to meet our clients needs whilst achieving our goals of delivering sustainable solutions across the built environment.


BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building’s environmental performance.

BREEAM provides clients, developers, designers and others with market recognition for low environmental impact buildings
and assurance that best environmental practice is incorporated into a building. It also drives inspiration to find innovative solutions that minimise the environmental impact; a benchmark that is higher than regulation; a tool to help reduce running costs;improve working and living environments; a standard that demonstrates progress towards corporate and organisational environmental objectives

LEED is an internationally recognised green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

LEED is flexible enough to apply to all building types – commercial as well as residential. It works throughout the building lifecycle – design and construction, operations and maintenance, tenant fit-out, and significant retrofit. Also LEED for Neighborhood Development extends the benefits of LEED beyond the building footprint into the neighborhood it serves.


By being pioneers within the industry and embracing BIM Processes & technologies we have replaced traditional cumbersome working practices with a model that performs far more efficiently and delivers more valuable information which is moving towards Integrated Project Delivery (or IPD), where the same BIM project information, is used by all the project stakeholders throughout the process, for design, analysis, construction and even facilities management.
