Project Description
Beacon South Quarter is a 121,000m2 mixed-use development located in Sandyford in Dublin 18, Ireland. The development consists of over 23,000m2 of retail outlets, 1,100 high specification apartments, 2,300 car spaces, and a vibrant cultural centre. At the heart of the cultural centre of Beacon South Quarter in Imaginosity. This is a three-story interactive children’s museum built on stilts over the main plaza pond and fountain.
Ethos Input
Ethos provided the mechanical and electrical services systems design for this development, utilising the latest technical design software including IES building modeling to determine the development thermal loads, and Revit 3D modeling for clash detection and M&E services coordination.
Unique / Key Features
Ground source heat pumps were used to heat/cool the concierge building. The Imaginosity building incorporated multiple renewable technologies which were also used as an educational tool for the children (and parents) visiting the museum. This building was runner-up in the CIBSE Sustainable Design awards.
