Project Description
The project is situated on a greenfield site, within the Grangecastle campus and contains an administration block with 4 separate data centre buildings. The total development with be of 71 MW of critical IT load.
The site is to be developed and expanded as required on a phased basis in pairs of buildings consisting of 4 units of 4.4MW COLO’s and associated electrical support rooms (electrical rooms, MDF rooms, MV rooms, etc).
Ethos Input
Upon successful design completion of works to previous client projects (Phase 4 commissioning and Phase 5 design consultancy), Ethos Engineering were retained and appointed as Mechanical and Electrical design consultants for the master planning of the next phases of the development.
The role included the master planning of the site for future development with a projected critical load of 120MW. The primary infrastructure including a 110kV substation has been completed for the site.ation has been completed for the site.
Unique / Key Features
The cooling is achieved by an all-air cooling system, utilising air side economisers (outside air) to cool the server and electrical spaces. Some areas (MDF rooms) had additional DX cooling provided.
The telecoms network is also highly resilient and drove the requirement to develop the site in pairs of buildings.
