At Lillyʼs new €2.3bn high-tech production facility near Alzey, Stage 3 and Stage 4 low voltage infrastructure designs needed to become a fully coordinated, construction-ready Stage 5 package — but existing designs didnʼt fully account for the realities of installation on site.
The challenge went beyond making the infrastructure fit. Containment was inadequately sized, available space was constrained and cable routes needed to accommodate critical bending radii. Every change had implications for the wider design.
Ethos looked at the system as a whole. Working closely with vendors, we reassessed loads, cable and containment sizing, routing, earthing and bonding. We considered not just where everything needed to go, but how it would get there, how it had to connect and how it could be physically installed on site.
That meant moving between the fine detail and the bigger picture: resolving individual technical constraints while understanding how each decision affected the immediate space and the wider project.
The result is a coordinated Stage 5 design built around the realities of construction. Clearer, more practical and ready to install — resolving complexity in the design, rather than risking compromise on site.
