Project Description
This project consists of 4 units of 2MW COLOs and associated electrical support rooms (electrical rooms, IDF rooms, MV rooms, etc.).
Ethos Input
As part of the mechanical and electrical deliverables Ethos Engineering were commissioned to provide the design through BIM, and Revit MEP was used for this project. The M&E services were developed to LOD 300 and transferred over to the main contractor to complete throughout the project. Ethos Engineering provided full MEP design services and construction administration support.
Unique / Key Features
The electrical support rooms are fully prefabricated pods which were manufactured off site and positioned externally to the building to facilitate an accelerated construction programme. The cooling is achieved by a highly efficient DX cooling system with an annualised PUE of 1.2 to meet stringent local authority requirements. This was achieved by an all air cooling system, utilising air side economisers (outside air) to cool the server spaces. The project also involves infrastructure extension and resilience, in relation to site MV supplies and connection to other telecoms infrastructure. Ethos collaborated with Dutch First Q Partner – Smits van Burgst - to ensure local compliance, and offering a contact on the ground who was available to the client, while managing the entire design process from our Dublin Offices.
